How to treat a child with flu? |
One of the most common illnesses that anyone can catch is flu. And children are far more susceptible to flu than adults, and the symptoms can be more serious in them as well. But there are remedies that can used to ease the suffering. Let the child get a lot of rest. Sleeping can help the body work faster and the immune system function better. Installing a humidifier in the child’s room will help her/him to breathe well as it will help release the congestion in the nose and throat. The child should also be kept hydrated at all times. Lots of fluid should be given to the child, like water, juices and other drinks, such as Pedialyte, that help boost electrolyte levels. Over the counter medications, for example Excedrin or Advil can be given to the child. But aspirin given to reduce fever is not advisable. And if the fever reaches beyond 104 degree Fahrenheit, a doctor should be consulted immediately. |
