What the Science Says About CAM and the Common Cold?

CAM or Complementary and Alternative Medicine are any and all medical products and procedures that are not the normal procedure to deal with ailments. Standard procedures include those prescribed my doctors and other health professionals, while alternative medicines are those used instead of standard medications. Complementary medicines are those used alongside standard ones. Medications available lessen the symptoms of colds. Among the CMAs used to treat the common cold, the 4 most focused on therapies are – Homeopathy, Hydrotherapy, Natural Health Products or NHPs and Psychological Interventions. CAM therapies are used to treat the common cold, a viral infection that occurs in the upper part of the respiratory system. Because there is no preventive vaccine available for common colds, only alternative preventive measures, like washing hands can help ward off colds. As it is, antibiotics cannot fight colds and there is no known cure for the common cold.
 While all these methods apparently help in preventing the flu and alleviating its symptoms, scientists agree that CAM therapy has no conclusive evidence to suggest that they actually do so. While several studies suggest that CAM does indeed benefit people through therapies, most of the results of these studies are either mixed or limited, or else the studies themselves are methodically flawed.
